How to Draw a Cartoon Reindeer
Do you reflect the most favored reindeer of all?
Reindeer are often associated with the Christmas holidays. Santa’s sleigh is said to be pulled by a team of eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen.
These were first named in the 1823 poem, “The Night Before Christmas.” The story of Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, “the most famous reindeer of all,” was published in 1939 and immortalized on film in 1964.

Did you know that reindeer are a type of royal animal?
Also called caribou, this species of deer lives in the subarctic reaches of northern Europe and North America.
In some places, indigenous people herd caribou for meat, milk, and skins.
They are also employed to pull coaches or sleds. However, real reindeer cannot fly through the night sky.
Would you like to draw your reindeer?
Doing so is easy with the help of this simple step-by-step drawing tutorial.
All you will require is a pencil and a sheet of report. New lines are added at each step, highlighted in blue, while previously drawn lines fade to black.
You may also want to keep an eraser handy to correct mistakes or remove guidelines.
Use colored pencils, tags, crayons, or colors to shade your finished drawing.
Will your reindeer have a red snout like Rudolph?
The choice is up to you.
Step-by-step instructions for drawing a reindeer.
Step 1
Begin by drawing a ring to outline the reindeer’s lead.
Step 2
Surround an irregular shape overlapping the circle to trace the snout.
Step 3
Connect the head and muzzle using short, curved lines.
Step 4
Extend two long, curved lines below the head, outlining the body’s shape.
step 5
Draw the shank operating a series of curved lines. Notice how the lines are further apart at the top of the leg. Also, note knee flexion and ankle flexion.
Step 6
Draw another leg using curved lines, again noting the sharpness of the knee and ankle joints.
Step 7
Draw the far hind leg using curved lines, again noting the curve of the knee and ankle.
step 8
Draw the far front shank, again noting the curvature of the lines close to the knee and ankle.
step 9
Draw the hooves by enclosing a rounded triangular shape at the bottom of each leg.
step 10
Draw the ear by rising two curved lines from the apiece side of the head. Let the lines complete at a point. Then draw a curved line to form the top of the tail. Enclose the tail with short, curved lines that meet at irregular points.
step 11
Erase the guidelines for the face, tail, and legs.
step 12
Inside each ear, enclose a shape using two curved lines. This will add depth to the ear. Draw the nose utilizing a series of curved lines. The nose should be roughly in the shape of a rounded inverted triangle, with depressions for the nostrils.
step 13
Draw the eyebrows using curved lines joined by a short, straight line. Draw a curved chute for the smiling sass. Decorate it at each end with short, curved lines and connect it to the nose with a straight line.
step 14
Enclose the base of the antlers at the top of the head with two curved lines. Then draw two curved lines on the front to form the bottom of the eyes. Complete the stares by enclosing an oval shape above the apiece curved line.
step 15
Draw three curved lines about the neck, meeting at a point on one flank and connected by a little curved line on the other. This forms the reindeer‘s harness.
step 16
Draw circles around the harness, erasing guide lines as needed. Draw two slightly curved lines in the center of each circle. These are the jingle bells.
step 17
Draw two curved lines on the deer’s neck and one on the belly between the nearby legs.
step 18
On each eye, draw a circle with several circles inside: shade, the innermost circle. Draw a few circles and ovals on the beast’s rump to form spots.
step 19
Draw curved lines extending up from the base of each flagpole. Draw pairs of lines that branch out, like the branches of a tree. Enclose apiece set of lines operating a short, curved line, completing the antlers.
step 20
Color the cartoon reindeer.
